Hello again!

With Covid19 curtailing our travel plans, and putting the LightUnshackled.com series 2 on hold, we have had more time for gardening again.

We never completely stopped gardening, but as our boys grew we explored life experiences with them that often too us away from the garden for periods of time. So for the past several years we have had a minimal garden, with often weedy end results. This year we have returned to gardening, and I will note what we are up to on this blog.

We are trying some new things:

1) Bagging fruit (Peaches and Apples) after pedal drop to prevent insect damage
2) Mixing in a lot of peat moss in the rows
3) Weeding ferociously at the start of the season, and trying to stay on top of the weeds so they don't take over like in past years. (Not going on a multi-week trip is helping!)

And doing some of the same things again:

1) We are again doing the drip tape watering system.
2) Our planting beds are 30" wide with a dedicated pathway.
3) We will try successive plantings this year

The peat moss in the growing beds is really helping maintain a loose soil which has resulted in an easier time weeding the beds. I am liking a stirrup hoe a lot these days! The really new thing we are doing is bagging fruit, and so far it seems to be working! I will keep you posted, so check back now and them over this summer.
